.De Cojín a Camisa: Reciclaje/ From Cushion to Shirt: Recycling

Good Morning!
How is everything? I hope that incredibly well and that this month of September is not too hard for you. As you can see from the photos we are facing another new project of recycling or re-use of fabric. It is a pair of embroidered white cotton cushions that deserved a second chance. We are going to see the result.

Due to the size of the cushions that in my case were quite "big" I could afford to create a long sleeve shirt. I know that I repeat myself a lot, but when it comes to reusing fabrics, these are the ones that determine the type of design we are going to be able to make. So much for size, wear, shape, defects, etc. Multiple variables For this reason it is important to dedicate time, mark the defects so that it facilitates the placement of the patterns and avoid a later displeasure. 😉

With the fabric prepared, in my case disassemble the two cushions in four pieces that way the parts of the cushions that were embroidered were used for the front of the shirt and the smooth parts for the back and sleeves. As the closing of the cushions was of buttons, I also took advantage of them as buttons on the shirt.

Whenever possible and aesthetic I like to leave small memories of the past life in the design, their personal scars. In this case take the form of the closings of the cushion itself in the sleeves where are the eyelets of the same as in the part of the back in the auction of the bass we can also find the old auction and buttons.
As you can see the result is quite colorful, with a certain minimalist touch but with character for the symmetry and the previous details in seams, buttons and buttonholes in unexpected places.
I hope that this project will inspire you and encourage you to make your own designs based on the re-use of fabrics.
Thank you so much for everything.
A big hug.
